Baguio - Summer Capital of the Philippines

Baguio is considered as the "Summer Capital of the Philippines". With its cool weather, it is best to visit here during summer. Although, I came here during September so the climate is cold especially during night. You don't need an airconditioned room.

It has many dazzling scenic mountain views, historical sites and a pine-scented air because of pine trees. Beware also of pickpocketers as I almost become a victim on them especially on busy streets.

Baguio at a glance:

Must seen places on Baguio:

Lion's Head - the undisputed landmark of the city along the Kennon Road

Camp John Hay - former camp of the American and British soldiers during the war that was converted into a recreational park surrounded by pine trees

The Mansion - served as the resident of various Presidents of the Philippines whenever they come up to Baguio

Mines View Park - the most visited and popular park of the city. With its breathtaking panoramic view of Benguet's gold and copper mines and the surrounding mountains

Phil. Military Academy - the premier military institution of the country and is the training ground for future officers of the Armed Forces of the Phillippines

Wright Park - famous for its shallow elongated rectangular body of water known as the "Pool of Pines". With tall pine trees and decorative street lights line both sides of the access road beside the pool.

Baguio Cathedral - also one of the familiar and visited landmark located on top of the hill on the heart of the city.

Burnham Park - man-made lake located at the center of the city. Park for various recreational activities: row a boat, have a picnic, go biking, watch a football game, or just take a leisurely stroll around the park and many more......

Lourder Grotto - located on a high hill part of the city where you will find the image of the Lady of Lourdes.

Many more landmarks and sites in Baguio but time would not allow us to do so. Although, we don't have ample time to visit ALL but there is always the second time around. I am eager to see the strawberry plantation hopefully on my next visit. It's a worthwhile trip........
